Today I’m trying AI-Writer.com, an AI writing tool geared for content creation and article generation. AI-Writer places emphasis on generating articles without hallucinations, that can be fact-checked and are relevant and current, thanks to its powerful AI algorithms. It also touts an SEO-focused approach to writing and editing, as well as an ability to suggest topics based on current trends. With all the features one needs to generate articles with ease, I’m excited to try it out. Let’s dive in!
AI-Writer Review: User Experience
Dashboard
The free plan is a seven-day, no credit card required type of trial. Upon creating a free account, I’m sent to a familiar-looking dashboard. The main screen has tools to select that include “Research & Write” “Topic Suggest 2.0” “Summarizer” “Email Composer” “Social Media Post” “Proofreader” “Text Reworder” and “Plot Generator.” These same options are presented along the left pane as well. I don’t see anywhere to adjust general settings, such as tone of voice and word count, or advanced SEO and text editing options. There’s also no dark mode, which always bums me out. Overall though it’s a clean-looking and functional dashboard.
Article Generator
I might as well start with the main attraction, so I select “Research and Write” to see what comes up. I’m presented with a pretty simple layout to start, with a standard text box asking for a topic to write about. It gives me the option for “1-click” generation, or “tailor-made” articles. Both options look appropriate for either articles or blog posts.
1-Click
I’m starting with the 1-click to see how smooth it really is. I gave it the topic, “How can AI be used for academic writing?” The progress bar says about 1 minute to create, and it was delivered on time. The article it produced reads well, flows logically, and is on topic. It’s not going to fool any AI detectors into thinking it’s written by a human writer, but it’s not the most robotic-sounding text that I’ve seen.
The text is good enough for posting without edits as is. It’s missing an introduction and conclusion, but since the free version articles are limited to 600 words, I’m fine with that. I can generate those elsewhere, or write them myself! Paid plans come with up to 5000 words per article, which is more than enough, especially with good-quality content like this. Overall, an excellent result for a 1-click article tool.
One thing that stands out is the automatic citations that are generated with the content. The left side of the screen contains the generated content, and the right side has citations and links to the website on which the content was based. You can scroll down to see the full reference list, with links to the content included.
This is the backbone of AI-Writer’s claims to be the only content generator with verified information while creating original content. While including these citations is a unique approach to the artificial intelligence writing process, it still requires a human eye to verify the sources as legitimate and accurate, and that the content isn’t plagiarised. Just because it’s on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true or accurate. The feature does make it incredibly easy to do that though, which is appreciated.
Tailor-Made Articles
For the tailor-made article, I’m starting with the prompt “How to make a resume with AI”.
It started by giving me title suggestions. I picked one, then was asked to pick keywords to focus on, or just write a general article. The keywords it suggested were way too general and likely difficult to rank for, so I input a few longer tail ones to try. Next, it provided subtopics for me to arrange and modify as needed. Finally, it gave the option to select the word count per topic. 600 words isn’t a lot so I only picked 4 paragraphs to write about, and still, 150 words per paragraph isn’t much. Let’s see what it comes up with.
For this article, the estimated time is 2:30 for completion, which is still much less time than doing it all from scratch. And even then, it only took about 1 minute. Nice. The results are on par with the first article I generated. The writing is clean and clear, relevant, without repetition and logically flowing. It lacks personality but writes in a very professional and helpful tone. Overall, not bad at all.
In summary, both the 1-click and tailor-made article tools generated excellent articles. I wish there was some way to manipulate the tone to sound a little less robotic, but it’s still high-quality writing. I could see this being an efficient and time-saving option for many types of content, especially since it includes a one-click export to WordPress option. If you’re not concerned with your content being flagged as generated by artificial intelligence, this is easily an A+ option.
Text Editor
I originally didn’t think there was a text editor or word processor built in. I finally found it after a while of looking, embedded as a link in the generated articles list. I thought the “open” button that’s more prominent would open it for editing, but that only opens the original pane for viewing. Then, I thought there would be an option to edit it or open the editor from there, but the only access to the editor that I can find is this little icon here:
This wasn’t intuitive at all and led me to believe there was just no text editing option.
I’m also very confused at why it calls itself an “SEO Text Editor”, as I can find nothing applicable to SEO or SEO tools within this editor. The editor itself is basic but functional. I would still transfer my text into a real editor like Microsoft Word or Google Docs if I wanted to make heavy edits. If it actually did have integrated SEO features, and enhanced grammar and natural language-assisted writing like Grammarly or Wordtune, it would be on par with similarly priced tools.
Additionally, even though the sources are included for fact-checking, a plagiarism checker would still be nice to speed up the verification process. It’s not a deal breaker though, and hopefully, the team is working on adding these types of additional features to make AI-Writer a more robust offering.
Topic Suggestions
Next, I’m on to the Topic Suggest tool, which describes itself as similar to Uber Suggest. The result is a list of keywords with some search volume data, and the ability to generate an article with one click from there. Generating articles directly from keyword research makes for a streamlined workflow.
The only downside is the lack of information provided on these keywords. Volume is helpful, but a keyword difficulty measure is even more so. This tool shouldn’t be used for deep keyword research anyway, and this topic suggestion tool could be very useful for quickly finding a keyword to base an article on.
The research and write option takes you directly back to the article writing options. I chose a 1-click article for the keyword I’d chosen. This time, I’m testing its ability to come up with logical suggestions on current tools to see if it can access the latest information on the internet.
Unfortunately, while it created a topic for a list of tools, it didn’t manage to provide any actual tools or their descriptions. So far that has been a really hard thing for these AI tools to do though, so I’m not holding it against AI-Writer.
Overall, I like the topic-suggest tool. It’s easy to use and was extremely effective in generating a post-ready article with very little effort. I hope the AI-Writer team continues to build on this tool to increase its functionality.
AI-Writer Review: Additional Features
The rest of the tools are pretty standard add-on-type tools, such as an email generator, social media post generator, and text rewriter. It is nice to see AI-Writer include these, since it gives the tool greater versatility and breadth.
One tool that stands out though, is a plot generator. I find this option particularly interesting in this case because the rest of Writer-AI is specifically focused on content marketing and article generation. To throw this tool for fiction writers in is interesting. The prompt options aren’t very deep and there are no templates, so I’m not expecting much, but let’s see what it does with a Pete the Pirate story.
The results are about what I expected. Nothing to write home about, but would probably make for a good children’s book. It provided theme notes, a basic plot with an explanation, and a rough outline. The ideas have some details, but there’s still plenty of room to flesh the story out. Obvious improvements to this tool would be tone settings and the ability to set a target audience to write for. I do think it’s a good start for brainstorming or free writing if you’re trying to defeat writer’s block, but I don’t know if I’d trust a serious novel-writing endeavor with it.
AI-Writer Review: Pricing
And that’s it for the tools. Overall, sleek, simple, and effective. For what it is though, I’m not sure it’s worth $50 a month. I really like that all plans include all features, and the price tiers are only for the amount of articles you can generate.
Even though the production quality is excellent, in the end, this tool only really does one thing. At $50 I expect a few more core functionalities included, such as more in-depth SEO optimization or AI images. As it is, there isn’t even support for different languages. AI-assisted text editors with multi-language support are pretty common in these types of tools, so missing one here is a significant issue at this price point.
BUT … There is a sale right now that cuts the price in half and doubles your credits if you subscribe to the year plan. So, $25 per month is paid annually at $300, for five users instead of one, and 2400 articles instead of 1200 per year. This seems like the kind of deal that they’re offering everyone who signs up for the free trial because it expires as soon as my 7-day free trial is up. It’s a clever marketing ploy, playing on a few different human cognitive biases. If I’m being honest, it just might be working on me too! Thankfully, I have 6 more days and 22 hours to think about it.
